Young Visions, Timeless Inspiration: 34th Annual OUHSD Student Art Show at CIMM

The 34th Annual Oxnard Union High School District (OUHSD) Art Show is currently on display at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum (CIMM) in Oxnard, California. Running from April 2 through May 6, 2025, this exhibition celebrates the creativity and talent of local high school students, featuring works across various mediums including photography, digital art, mixed media, sculpture, painting, and drawing.

The artist reception was held last night to a packed house, with well over 120 people in attendance. Family, friends, teachers, and community members gathered to support the student artists and experience the powerful energy of their work. The reception also included an awards ceremony, recognizing excellence across several artistic categories.

CIMM's Executive Director, Doug Riffenburgh, expressed the museum's enthusiasm for hosting this exciting annual student art show, stating;

“It’s incredibly inspiring to see student work displayed on the same walls as 17th-century Dutch masters. It reminds us that great art can come from any age and any era—and that every artist can start with a moment like this.”

The museum's permanent collection includes masterpieces by 17th-century Dutch and Flemish artists such as Willem Van De Velde and contemporary artists like John Stobart, providing an awe-inspiring backdrop for the students' artwork.

A huge congratulations to all of this year’s talented student artists! Earlier this month, a panel of three judges carefully reviewed each submission to determine the top works across all categories. The top three winners in each category were honored with award ribbons, recognizing their creativity and craftsmanship. In addition, reception guests and museum visitors had the chance to cast their votes for the coveted People’s Choice Award. We're thrilled to announce this year's outstanding winners below:
