Whales, Art & Adventures Await at the 26th Annual Celebration of the Whales 2025

The Channel Islands Harbor is excited to host the 26th Annual Celebration of the Whales Festival on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This celebrated event honors the migration of the Pacific Gray Whale and offers a variety of family-friendly activities throughout the day.

Event Highlights:


  • Community "Paint a Whale" Mural Project: Attendees can contribute to a communal mural designed by local Oxnard artist Elisa Torres, who has been creating the festival's mural art for the past three years.

  • Chalk Art Displays: Stroll along the "Gray Whale Migration Trail" in Harbor View Park to view stunning chalk art creations.

  • Whale Education Booths: Visit the Maritime Museum and learn all about the whales that live off of our California coastline.

  • Children’s Fun Zone: A dedicated area offering various activities and entertainment tailored for younger attendees.

  • Arts & Crafts: Children of all ages can participate in fun crafts ranging from making your own whale hat to origami and so much more!

  • Food Trucks: Mister Softie (ice cream) & the Cousins Maine Lobster food trucks will be parked in front of the Maritime Museum - come enjoy their delicious treats!

  • Channel Islands Maritime Museum: Come enjoy world class maritime art and ship models at this local treasure! The museum will be open with regular admission & kids under 18 are always free!


Activities will be centered at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum and the Channel Islands Harbor Farmers Market, connected by the scenic "Gray Whale Migration Trail" through Harbor View Park.


Admission to the festival is FREE!
