On March 14 & 15, the Museum’s beloved Art Comes Alive celebration returns with two immersive events that transform galleries into living stories (some real and some imagined), where characters from maritime paintings and history step off the walls and into real life. From a lively evening cocktail experience to a playful family adventure the next day, this is one weekend when art doesn’t just hang on the walls, it talks, laughs and shares its tales from the sea. Night at the Maritime Museum

Friday, March 14 | 6–9 PM

Kick off the weekend with Night at the Maritime Museum, an unforgettable after-hours experience where the galleries transform into a living stage. Guests wander the museum, enjoying refreshments and hors d’oeuvres while encountering sailors, explorers, pirates, royalty and other characters brought to life by our talented performers.

This isn’t a show you sit and watch, it’s an interactive evening of discovery. As you move through the museum, characters inspired by the collection appear throughout the galleries, sharing stories and secrets from maritime history. The theatrical storytelling and after-hours atmosphere create a magical environment that feels both intimate and adventurous.

Art Comes Alive: The Experience

Saturday, March 15 | 12–4 PM

The adventure continues the next day with Art Comes Alive: The Experience, a vibrant, family-friendly event where maritime history bursts into life throughout the museum. Visitors will meet a colorful cast of characters who have stepped right out of the museum’s paintings and exhibits, ready to share stories from the high seas.

Designed for guests of all ages, the event features interactive encounters with performers, themed photo opportunities, games and hands-on activities that bring maritime heritage to life in creative and playful ways. Families can wander through the galleries, talk with historical figures, and experience the museum in a completely new way. It's entirely unforgettable!
