Speaker Series - Simon Spalding

Join us at the Maritime Museum for an enchanting evening with historian-musician Simon Spalding as he paints a musical portrait of California’s rich maritime heritage. Simon will trace the history of seafaring, exploration, and maritime commerce in California with fiddle tunes, seagoing ballads, and sing-along shanties, all accompanied by Simon on violin, mandolin, banjo, and Chinese erhu.

Simon Spalding is an author, historian, and performer with a focus on maritime history and historical music. He has lectured and performed at festivals, museums, and concerts across North America and in twelve European countries. Simon has produced music recordings, scores for historical musicals, and educational programs.
