About the event
The vast expanse of islands across Polynesia - larger than the US and Canada combined - was explored and populated thanks to the voyaging skills of navigators who never had a compass or chart. They mastered the movement of the stars, the seasons of the winds, and the patterns of the waves to complete seafaring expeditions and trade routes for over a thousand years using skills and knowledge handed down from generation to generation. What do we know of their extraordinary genius? How has their tradition been revived and practiced in recent years? And what can they teach us about thinking “outside the box” as we navigate our increasingly complex world?
