The Channel Islands Maritime Museum offers a dynamic range of educational experiences for students in 3rd - 12th grades. Through hands-on activities, guided exploration and engaging exhibits, students discover maritime history, art, culture and maritime career opportunities in meaningful and age-appropriate ways. Each visit is designed to spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and create memorable learning experiences that connect classroom concepts to the real world.
Our interactive field trips & after school programs help students develop an appreciation for art, history, maritime careers and cultural heritage while strengthening critical thinking, observation and communication skills. By exploring stories of seafarers, global trade, navigation and maritime traditions, students build historical perspective and empathy while gaining a deeper understanding of our connection to the sea.
Our learning activities are modular and field trips can be customized in collaboration with teachers to enhance what students are learning in the classroom. Field trips range from 2 - 5 hours. Timing and pricing varies based on program, modules & number of students.
For students in 6 - 12th grades, CIMM's Maritime Pathways Academy (MPA) is an inspiring new program! MPA introduces students to the many careers connected to the maritime world through a full day (4.5 hour) field trip. Through hands-on STEAM learning, industry engagement and exposure to maritime professionals, students explore pathways in marine science, conservation, skilled trades, transportation, technology and other maritime-related fields. MPA invites young people to spark interest in future educational and career opportunities while fostering a deeper understanding of the maritime industry’s vital role in our community and economy.
